On Saturday morning, Paraguay took the lead in the match against Turkey after just 64 seconds, when Matias Galarza scored the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup. This record was set shortly after Ismael Saibari scored a quick goal against Scotland, dethroning him by six seconds. Galarza, the midfielder for Atlanta United, scored with a shot from 25 meters, surprising Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir. At just 23 years old, Galarza has already scored four goals in 16 matches for the Paraguay national team. However, he will not hold the record for the fastest goal in national history, which is held by Celso Ayala, who scored after 52 seconds in 1998 against Nigeria.
