Nick Kyrgios, former world number 13, has been provisionally suspended from tennis after testing positive for cocaine, following a test conducted at the Mallorca Open on June 22, which revealed the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

The suspension came into effect on August 4, and Kyrgios has the right to appeal, but has not done so up to this point. In a message on Instagram, he acknowledged that he made a 'big mistake' and takes 'full responsibility' for his actions. Following the suspension, Kyrgios cannot participate in Grand Slam tournaments or other events sanctioned by the men's and women's tennis circuits.

He has also had a difficult season, playing only four singles matches due to knee and wrist issues. His last appearance was in the men's doubles event at Wimbledon, where he was eliminated in the first round.
