Former world number one Naomi Osaka has qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 1,000 tournament in Montreal after a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory over Latvia's Anastasia Sevastova. Osaka, ranked 49th in the world, will play Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals. By contrast, Iga Swiatek, world No. 2 and fresh Wimbledon winner Iga Swiatek was eliminated by Denmark's Clara Tauson. Other notable results include wins for Madison Keys and Elina Svitolina.
