Men's basketball: A member of the USA national team and former NBA player has signed with U-BT Cluj-Napoca

U-Banca Transilvania strengthens its roster for the 2026-2027 season by bringing in Malcolm Hill, a player with experience both in Europe and in the NBA, as well as in the national team of the United States of America. Hill is a versatile player who primarily plays at the 3 position, as a small forward, but can also be used at the 2 or 4 positions. 

Hill participated in the NCAA from 2013 to 2017, alongside his team, the Illinois Fighting Illini. During those four years, Hill played 137 games, achieving averages of 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. One of his most significant performances was in the 2015-2016 season when he became the only player in the team's history to total over 600 points, 200 rebounds, and 100 assists in a single season. 

He began his professional playing career in 2017, spending the summer with the Star Hotshots in the Philippines, where he impressed with averages of 26 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3 assists in 7 games played. 

After his experience in the Philippines, he signed the same year in Germany, where he played for a season with Telekom Baskets Bonn. His second year in Europe was also spent in Germany, this time playing for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. 

Starting in 2021 and until he joined our team, Malcolm continued his career across the ocean, alternating between the NBA and G League. The Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls were the teams for which our new player took the court in 25 official games, but he also played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers in the preseason. In the G League, Hill made appearances for the Birmingham Squadron, Windy City Bulls, and Delaware Blue Coats, recording 141 appearances over the five years. In the last season, he had averages of 18.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. 

His performances in the G League brought Hill the news of his selection for the United States team for the qualification window in February-March, in view of participating in the 2027 World Championship. Malcolm took the court in matches against the Dominican Republic and Mexico, scoring 5 points and 18 points, respectively.
