Lindsey Vonn, at the age of 41 and winner of the downhill races in Saint-Moritz and Zauchensee this winter, suffered a fall in Crans-Montana on Friday. At the beginning of the course, Vonn lost her balance and ended up in the safety nets, skiing down with visible pain, frequently stopping to support her left knee.
At the finish, she had a grim expression, still greeting the crowd, but shaking her head in denial, appearing frustrated. This incident occurs a week before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, where Vonn hopes to win the gold medal, 16 years after she won the title in Vancouver. The organizers decided to stop the race after three of the six skiers fell into the safety nets.
