Julian Alvarez, the forward of Atletico Madrid, has become the Argentine footballer with the most goals scored in the Champions League, reaching the milestone of 20 goals in just 35 matches. This record places him ahead of his compatriots, Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi, who needed 37 and 40 matches respectively to achieve the same performance. Alvarez scored his 20th goal on Wednesday night in the match against FC Bruges, which ended in a 3-3 draw, in the first leg of the playoff for the competition's round of 16. He converted a penalty in the 8th minute of the match. So far, Alvarez has scored 12 goals in 18 matches with Atletico in the Champions League.
