Cristian passed in the inaugural round against American McCartney Kessler, ranked 33rd in the WTA, score 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-3. In the second round, Cristian will compete against Kazakh athlete Elena Rybakina, seeded 8th and ranked 9th in the world.
