Italy is facing a major crisis in football, following the elimination of the national team in the playoff for the 2026 World Cup and the disaster in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Now, the country risks losing the co-hosting of Euro 2032 due to inadequate infrastructure.

UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin, stated in an interview that Italian stadiums are "far behind those in other major nations" and emphasized that the responsibility does not lie with the Federation, but with public authorities. Ceferin urged Italian politicians to ask questions regarding the state of football infrastructure in the country.

If the infrastructure is not ready, Euro 2032 will not take place in Italy. The president of the Italian federation, Gabriele Gravina, is facing major challenges in addressing these issues, and the management of the San Siro stadium, which is set to be demolished and rebuilt, represents a first step. The 1.2 billion euro project is stalled due to an investigation related to collusion and bid manipulation for the transfer of the stadium.
