Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, revealed that 150 million ticket requests have been received for the 2026 World Cup, an event that will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This statistic was presented as a justification for the high ticket pricing policy, which has been criticized by fans.

During the World Sports Summit in Dubai, Infantino avoided directly addressing the protests related to ticket prices, only mentioning the intensification of the debate on this topic. He emphasized that, in just two weeks, approximately 10 million requests were received per day, thus highlighting the popularity and unique status of the World Cup. Most requests came from the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
