Hansi Flick, the coach of FC Barcelona, announced that he has extended his contract with the Catalan club until 2028, with an option for another year. "In recent days, I have received confirmation that I am in the right place. Now is the time to continue winning and to try to win the Champions League again," said Flick, expressing his gratitude to the club for the trust placed in him.
Appointed in 2024 to replace Xavi Hernandez, Flick had an initial contract valid until 2027. Since his arrival, he has won two titles in La Liga, one Copa del Rey, and two Supercopa de España, however, the Champions League has eluded him, with Barcelona being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Atlético Madrid this season, after being defeated by Inter Milan in the semi-finals last year. Flick emphasized the importance of winning the Champions League for the club and promised that he will continue to fight for this goal.
