Mikel Arteta has extended his contract with Arsenal after leading the London side to the English league title last season. Arsenal have thus secured their 14th national title and their fourth in the Premier League era.
The Spanish manager, appointed head coach in December 2019, said he was honoured to continue his work at the club and that the success achieved represents only the beginning of an important period for the team. Arteta highlighted the special bond established with Arsenal and the people at the club.
In almost six years in charge of the team, Arteta has managed 361 matches in all competitions and has a win rate of 62.05%, the best in the club’s history for a manager who has completed a full tenure. In his first season, he won the FA Cup and then turned Arsenal into consistent Premier League title contenders.
The club announced that members of the coaching staff had also extended their contracts, in line with the manager’s new agreement. Co-chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke described their relationship with Arteta as a special one, while chief executive Richard Garlick said Arsenal aimed to build a winning era together with the manager.
