Gloria Bistrița were defeated by Győr, 36–32, in Hungary in the fourth round of the group stage of the Women’s Handball Champions League. The Romanian champions thus suffered their second defeat in the current edition of the competition, with both losses coming away from home.
The team coached by Carlos Viver failed to stop the Hungarian side’s impressive run and were unable to respond throughout the match. Győr prevailed by a four-goal margin, after Gloria Bistrița had secured an important home win against the Danish side Odense.
In their first four group-stage matches, the Bistrița team have collected four points. Gloria have alternated home victories with negative results away from home and must improve their performances in away matches to remain in contention for qualification.
The Romanian champions’ next Champions League match is scheduled for October 11 against NFH.
