Ruse defeated Rebecca Šramková with a decisive 6-2, 6-2, thus taking her revenge for the defeat suffered against the Slovak in 2023. In the second round, Ruse will face the 16th seed, American Emma Navarro.
The only direct encounter between the two took place last year on clay, when Navarro won decisively 6-0, 6-2.
