Everton has confirmed that a supporter was arrested during the spectacular 3-3 draw on Monday night in the Premier League with Manchester City at Hill Dickinson Stadium, after racist abuse was reported against Antoine Semenyo.
Merseyside Police intervened quickly after stewards and other fans reported the incident, and the arrest took place before the final whistle.
"Merseyside Police arrested a 71-year-old man on suspicion of public disorder with racial motivation, after fans and officials reported the incident. He has since been released on bail, with certain conditions, including a ban on being within 1.6 km of any sports venue for four hours before and four hours after a match," the club announced in a statement.
