David Popovici won another gold medal at the Settecoli Trophy, held at Foro Italico in Rome, winning the 200 meter freestyle event with a time of 1:44.48. This is a new competition record, improving his previous performance of 1:45.49, set in 2023. His time is the best in the world this season, according to GOLAZO. The podium also featured Italian Carlos D`Ambrosio and Briton Jack Mc Millan, with times of 1:46.41 and 1:46.71, respectively.
David Popovici also won the 100 meter freestyle event on Saturday, setting another competition record with 47.26 seconds, and on Friday he won silver in the 50 meter freestyle. The Settecoli Trophy was the last test for Popovici before the European Championships from August 10-16.
