David Popovici won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle at the European Championships in Slovakia after finishing the race in 21.86 seconds.

At the European Under-23 Swimming Championships in Slovakia, David Popovici won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, finishing the race in third place with a time of 21.86 seconds, behind Portugal's Diogo Ribeiro and Ukraine's Vladislav Bukhov. This is Popovici's second medal at the championships, after winning gold in the 200m freestyle. Romania's 13-strong delegation has so far won three medals at the competition in Slovakia. David will also compete in the 100m freestyle and with the Romanian 4x100m relay.
