President Nicușor Dan stated that Romanians are in a more difficult economic situation than they were six months ago, with an inflation rate of 10%, which affects the purchasing power of citizens, especially those with low incomes.
He explained that Romania had to implement economic measures to maintain investor confidence, warning that without these measures, inflation could have reached 20-30%.
"We must be very clear that Romanians are doing worse, yes, at this moment compared to, let's say, six months ago, the fact that we have an inflation rate of 10% means that each Romanian is buying 10% less than they could buy, and for some of them who were at the limit, this is really very difficult. On the other hand, we have been, we speak as a society, administration in its entirety, we have been forced to take some measures, because Romania is borrowing from some investment funds, banks and these people said do not reduce the deficit, some of us will withdraw, others of us will lend you even more expensively," said Nicușor Dan on Sunday, at RTV.
