Women's handball: CSM Bucharest qualifies for the Champions League quarter-finals after a clear victory

CSM Bucharest has managed to qualify directly for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after defeating the Danish team Ikast 31-23. This victory was crucial, but a win by the Hungarians from Ferencvaros over Odense, which was achieved with a score of 30-28, was also necessary. CSM Bucharest finished the group in 2nd place, accumulating 20 points, behind the leader Brest, with 22 points. Additionally, Ferencvaros finished in 3rd place, also with 20 points, but was surpassed by CSM due to direct results.
The other teams in the group, Ferencvaros, Odense, Ikast, and Podravka, will play the playoff for the quarter-finals, while CSM Bucharest cannot meet Gloria Bistrita, which is in 4th place in Group A. Gloria Bistrita will play the playoff against Ikast, and the last matches in the group are scheduled for Sunday, February 22. Gyor and Metz are already directly qualified for the quarter-finals, and Gloria Bistrita has 14 points, securing 5th place in the standings.
