After their elimination from the singles competition, Jaqueline Cristian and Gabriela Ruse teamed up in the doubles tournament in Cincinnati, where they met the number 4 seeds Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens. In an evenly balanced match, the Romanians won the second set but were defeated in the super tie-break. Kudermetova and Mertens thus qualified for the last 16. Sorana Cîrstea remained the only Romanian player in the competition, advancing to the 3rd round in singles.
