Crina Pintea, the 36-year-old pivot, returns to Romania’s national team after an absence of nearly three years. The handball player has been called up for the EHF EuroCup Final Four Tournament, a competition that will take place in Bucharest on September 26 and 27.
Pintea had not played for Romania since December 2023, at the World Championship. Her last match in the national team jersey was against Poland, which Romania won 27–26 in the group stage.
Although she had announced her retirement from international handball, the player decided to return to the national team. “I am returning to the national team, where my heart beats differently. I am very happy to wear the national team jersey again and fight for Romania,” Crina Pintea wrote on Facebook.
The Romanian Handball Federation announced the squad selected by head coach Ovidiu Mihăilă for the final tournament. In the semifinals, Romania will face Denmark, while Norway and Hungary will meet in the other match. The games are scheduled for 2:15 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., with the medal finals taking place the following day.
