CFR Cluj has been fined by UEFA with a penalty of 200,000 euros and risks being excluded from European competitions.

CFR Cluj has received a new blow from UEFA, following an analysis conducted by the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) for the 2025/2026 season. The club, which finished third in the previous championship and will participate in the Conference League, was found to have financial arrears, with a 'bill' of 200,000 euros. This adds to the 14 lawsuits registered with FIFA, coming from players who have not received their salary rights for more than 90 days. CFR Cluj has entered UEFA's 'radar' for the next two seasons, and if it is found to have debts again, it risks exclusion from European competitions.

Additionally, the club has a transfer ban, valid until all debts are fully paid. Other sanctioned clubs have received smaller fines, while FK Budućnost Podgorica and FC Ordabasy Shymkent are on probation for one season. Dinamo Batumi from Georgia faces exclusion from continental competitions for three seasons, starting with the 2026/2027 edition.
