Mark Walter, CEO of TWG Global, will acquire the Buss family's majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers for a record $10 billion. The Buss family will retain a 15% stake in the team, which they have owned since 1979. Walter, already a minority shareholder as of 2021, has interests in various sports organizations. The Lakers, with a rich history and 17 NBA titles, were run by Jerry Buss until his death in 2013, and now his daughter, Jeanie, runs the franchise.
