Antonio Antonelli, a young Italian driver of only 19 years, achieved his first success in Formula 1 by winning the Chinese Grand Prix. With this victory, he becomes the second youngest driver in history to win a Grand Prix, after Max Verstappen, who won at 18 in 2016. Antonelli is also the first Italian winner since Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault), who triumphed in 2006 in Malaysia. On the podium, Briton George Russell (Mercedes) took second place, while Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) finished third. Charles Leclerc, Hamilton's teammate, finished fourth, and Oliver Bearman (Haas) ended up in fifth. Max Verstappen had a difficult race, retiring on lap 47 and expressing his dissatisfaction with the new regulations for 2026, describing each lap as a method of "survival" in the new car.
