Kimi Antonelli, the driver of the Mercedes F1 Team, will start the Monza Grand Prix on September 6 from the last position on the grid, after the team decided to replace his car's engine.

This change will result in a penalty from the FIA, as Antonelli will exceed the limit of four power units allowed per season. Reliability issues have affected the Mercedes team's plans, and team principal Toto Wolff confirmed that a complete change of the power unit will be made.

Although Monza is considered the "home" race for Antonelli, Wolff emphasized that the team's strategy is focused on the title fight, not on media visibility. Additionally, George Russell will face a penalty in the future, but the timing of it remains to be determined.
