Two Moldovan citizens were arrested in Italy after they punctured a kerosene pipeline intended for Fiumicino Airport, diverting the fuel into a hidden tank in a truck. The theft was discovered when the fuel pressure began to inexplicably drop, leading to an investigation.
Authorities uncovered a complex clandestine system, with a 1.3-kilometer illegal pipeline transporting kerosene to a 15,000-liter tank. On February 23, the carabinieri caught the two men red-handed while they were loading the fuel, confiscating approximately 4,000 liters of kerosene. They are accused of ongoing fuel theft, affecting public energy infrastructure. The land and equipment were seized, and the Moldovans were incarcerated at the Civitavecchia prison.
