Vladimir Plahotniuc, a former Moldovan politician and oligarch, will be handed over to Moldovan authorities after the Athens Court of Appeal accepted his extradition request. Plahotniuc, accused of involvement in the "Theft of the Century", was caught in Greece with forged documents trying to flee to Dubai. His lawyers say the Greek authorities could delay the trial to allow him to return to Moldova after the September 28 elections. The Greek justice ministry is yet to confirm his extradition, while Russia is also seeking his extradition.
