At the Munich Security Conference, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Espen Barth Eide. The discussion addressed the decision of the Norwegian Government to open a resident embassy in Chișinău, which will facilitate the coordination of development projects and will intensify cooperation in areas such as resilience, energy, and good governance.

Mihai Popșoi emphasized that the opening of the embassy is a strong signal of trust and will allow for the expansion of bilateral relations and more efficient implementation of joint projects, including in support of Moldova's European path. Currently, Norway is accredited in Moldova through the Embassy in Bucharest and has a territorial office in Chișinău, inaugurated last year. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992.
