Moldova is facing a dramatic decline in wheat exports, which have decreased by almost 60% compared to last year, placing the country fourth in the EU. The main problem is the port of Giurgiulești, where the water depth prevents large vessels from accessing, forcing farmers to abandon contracts. Although Moldova has high agricultural potential and good sunflower and rapeseed exports, the losses in wheat severely affect farmers' incomes and the confidence of external partners. Authorities need to quickly implement solutions such as investments in infrastructure to prevent future losses.
