The Republic of Moldova will benefit, in the first semester of the year, from a new radar designed for detecting drones, according to the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi. This initiative comes against the backdrop of intensified attacks by the Russian Federation on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, which have led to illegal overflights of Moldovan airspace. Nosatîi emphasized that drone detection depends on several factors, including the distance from the radar and the terrain relief. In addition, Moldova will intensify cooperation with neighboring states for early warnings, implementing the MD-Alert warning system, which will allow for rapid information to citizens. The minister mentioned the difficulties encountered in the operation to destroy a recently detected drone, which had an explosive payload of 50 kg, and warned that the risks will persist as long as the attacks on Ukraine continue.
