The annual report of the European Commission, published on November 4 in Brussels, positively assesses the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process. President Maia Sandu held meetings with European officials, and the Commission emphasized that Moldova needs to accelerate reforms to conclude accession negotiations by 2028. Moldova has met the conditions for opening three out of six negotiation clusters, including those related to the rule of law and the internal market. The Commission expects Chișinău to also meet the conditions for the other clusters by the end of the year.
Despite the progress, risks related to political blockages, especially from Hungary, are mentioned. The European Commission acknowledges Moldova's efforts to cooperate with the EU, despite external threats. Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of rapid accession, warning of risks to the country. Reforms in the field of justice and combating crime remain priorities, and Moldova will benefit from European funds to support these reforms.
