Maia Sandu, the president of the Republic of Moldova, expressed confidence that the leaders in Brussels will find solutions to start the accession negotiations of the country to the European Union, despite the opposition from some member states. At the Enlargement Summit organized by Euronews, Sandu emphasized that Moldova has demonstrated readiness and determination in implementing the necessary reforms. She warned that without EU support, Moldova risks becoming vulnerable to authoritarian regimes, especially from Russia.
Sandu mentioned the progress made, such as the Agreement with Frontex, and stated that by 2030, she wants Moldova to become a member of the European Union, considering that many Moldovan citizens already hold European citizenship.
