The residence permit, intended for foreigners with residence rights, stateless persons, refugees, and individuals with humanitarian protection, will be introduced in Moldova starting January 1, 2026. This document, similar to a bank card, will include advanced security features, biometric data, and an electronic signature. The project, approved by the Government, aims to comply with European security standards. Also starting in 2026, passports will be issued with new codes for more efficient border checks, aiming to enhance security and reduce bureaucracy.
