In an interview with the Financial Times, Maia Sandu stated that Russia is intensifying its interference in the Moldovan elections, particularly targeting the diaspora. Russian authorities are using Orthodox priests and the Matryoshka network to spread disinformation. Sandu emphasized that the support of the diaspora has been crucial for her electoral success. She warned that the Kremlin's methods are sophisticated and include false threats and the involvement of criminal groups, highlighting the need for European integration as a solution to protect democracy in Moldova.
