The former U.S. ambassador, Adrian Zuckerman, stated that Oana Ţoiu, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, should have a discussion with Senator Marco Rubio regarding the partial withdrawal of American troops from Romania. Zuckerman was surprised by the announcement of the withdrawal, emphasizing that if the decision was made without President Donald Trump's permission, the situation could be "extremely dangerous."
He also mentioned that the withdrawal was decided in the absence of Trump and Rubio, who were on official visits in Asia. Zuckerman reminded that Rubio had assured that there would be no changes in the presence of American troops. Additionally, Trump downplayed the significance of this withdrawal, stating that it is not a big deal. Zuckerman emphasized the need for urgent clarifications between Washington and Bucharest.
