The leader of the USR senators, Sorin Șipoș, announced that the party submitted a new draft of the Integrity Law on Tuesday, from which the provisions that could lead to the loss of mandates by Mayor Dominic Fritz and other local officials in the country have been removed.

Șipoș emphasized that the law voted by Parliament is contrary to the rule of law and violates European norms. He warned that, in the form adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, the ANI Law does not meet the requirements of the European Commission, thus risking the loss of funds from the PNRR and other sanctions.

USR calls on all parties to vote for a "clean law" to avoid situations similar to those in Hungary.

The dispute concerns the "Fritz amendment," which could lead to the termination of the mandate of the mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz. After the law was adopted by Parliament, USR, PNL, and Nicușor Dan challenged it at the CCR, but the Court ruled that the amendment is constitutional.
