The USR parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies is asking Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare to attend “Government Hour” on November 2 to clarify the differences between the official data on budget execution and figures recently presented by PSD leaders.
The request was submitted to the Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies. USR wants the minister to present the true state of the budget in Parliament, based on official data and in a transparent manner.
According to information from the Finance Ministry cited by the party, the budget deficit reached 3.82% of GDP, equivalent to 78.52 billion lei, after the first nine months of 2026. During the same period last year, the deficit stood at 5.35% of GDP.
USR says these data must be compared with recent statements by the PSD leadership, which cited different figures concerning the state of public finances. The party is asking Alexandru Nazare to explain whether the information presented by the Social Democrats reflects the actual budget situation.
USR parliamentary group leader Diana Stoica accused PSD of turning the dispute into a battle for public image and of circulating contradictory figures. MP Adrian Echert, in turn, warned that political disputes must not undermine efforts to reduce budgetary imbalances and the reforms undertaken through the NRRP.
USR representatives emphasized that Nazare was reconfirmed as Finance Minister in two successive cabinets and believe that he must provide public explanations regarding the evolution of Romania’s finances.
