Unaffiliated MP Aurora Tasica Simu, president of UNIT – the National Union for Innovation and Tradition Party, announced on Tuesday that her party has not yet decided whether it will support the investiture of the Government led by designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu. The decision will be made after the government program and the proposed team are presented.
Following the consultations, Niculescu presented priorities such as the budget rectification, drafting the budget for 2027, economic relaunch, increasing VAT collection, attracting European funds, supporting SMEs, indexing pensions, and reducing social inequalities.
UNIT called for concrete measures to change the leadership of ANSVSA, in the context of problems in the livestock sector and rabies outbreaks, the digitalization of consular services, and the interoperability of the administration’s IT systems. The party also requested clarifications regarding the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum.
Other proposals include reducing subsidies for political parties, supporting people with disabilities and families, measures to reduce energy and fuel costs, reforming state-owned companies rather than selling them, as well as supplementing legislation on homeschooling.
UNIT also raised the issue of the staff shortage in the justice system and proposed examining the possibility of direct admission to the magistracy. Aurora Simu emphasized that the party would not give the future Government “a blank check.”
