Romania is in a political crisis, after the negotiations between PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR for forming a new parliamentary majority have failed.

Just a few days before the end of the parliamentary session, President Nicușor Dan stated that the political deadlock has returned, emphasizing that PNL has changed its initial position of supporting a PSD minority government. PNL and USR propose a minority government led by Siegfried Mureșan, but PSD refuses to accept such an option, insisting on the autonomy of the governing program. Sorin Grindeanu, the president of PSD, has stated that the party will not vote for a government it is not part of.

The pressure to invest a government is increasing, considering that Tuesday is the last day of the parliamentary session.

However, the Chambers can convene in extraordinary sessions at the request of: the President of Romania, the permanent bureau of each Chamber, or at least one third of the number of deputies or senators.

In other words, the fact that Parliament is "on vacation" does not legally prevent the immediate convening of an extraordinary session for the investment of a government, if there is a request made by the authorized actors.
