Irineu Darău, the interim minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, stated that the project to build four patrol vessels, financed through the European SAFE program, must be carried out at the Mangalia Shipyard, despite the critical situation of the company.
On TVR Info, Darău mentioned that he took over the mandate at a difficult time, with international litigations and a company in insolvency. The first measure was to ensure the payment of employees' salaries for six months. The Ministry of Economy has mandated that the ships be built in Romania, in Mangalia, as a mandatory condition for obtaining European funds. Darău expressed his confidence that the project will be completed, with the new ships built by 2030.
