On Tuesday, mayors from various localities had a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan at the Victoria Palace, focused on administrative issues ahead of the approval of the state budget for 2026. Dumitru Boroș, the PSD mayor of Bârlad, stated that the discussions were constructive, regarding the necessity of administrative reforms, both at the territorial level and internally within the municipalities. The mayor emphasized that there was no discussion about the political support of the prime minister or about the allocation of money from taxes and duties, but only about general principles. Additionally, the mayors mentioned the importance of efficiency in collecting local taxes and acknowledged the need for a principle of solidarity, similar to those in other European countries. The meeting took place before the completion of the state budget, but the mayors did not request additional funds from the Government.
