The Romanian government has approved a state aid scheme worth a total of 620 million lei, aimed at reducing the excise duty on diesel used in agriculture. This measure, announced by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, aims to support mechanized work in the plant, livestock, and land improvement sectors. The amount allocated from the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture for the year 2026 will cover payments for the period July 2025 – December 2025. The reduced excise rate has been set at 106.72 lei/1,000 liters, and the excise difference refunded to farmers will be 2.697 lei/liter. Payments will be managed by the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), within the limits of the approved budget. This measure continues a similar initiative for transporters, providing predictability in production costs for farmers.
