The government will decide on Thursday to extend the cap on the commercial markup for basic foodstuffs by six months, announced Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. He specified that, although he has been portrayed as an inflexible man regarding this measure, he has been open to arguments, but decisions cannot be made on populist grounds. Bolojan emphasized that direct intervention in the market does not bring sustainable solutions for lowering prices and insisted on the need to increase the production and processing of agri-food products, in order to better capitalize on Romania's agricultural potential.
