Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan estimated that discussions regarding the establishment of the minimum wage for the year 2026 will be concluded in the next two weeks. He emphasized that any potential increase in the minimum wage would have a significant impact, especially in the public sector, where salaries are tied to this indicator. Bolojan mentioned that, in the context of capping salaries and pensions in the public sector, an increase in the minimum wage would create contradictions with previous decisions.
Additionally, in the private sector, an increase in the minimum wage would influence collective labor contracts, having a cascading effect on companies that are already facing economic difficulties. The Prime Minister highlighted the need to consider economic data and current constraints before deciding on the adjustment of the minimum wage, which will be carried out according to existing provisions.
