In the context of discussions about a possible dissolution of the governing coalition, Eugen Rădulescu, director and advisor to the governor of BNR, emphasizes the fragility of Romania's economy, faced with a budget deficit of 9.3% of GDP. This situation urgently requires a deficit reduction program; otherwise, financial risks will increase, warns Rădulescu.
The government has adopted measures to increase revenues, but political instability could affect Romania's international credibility. Additionally, the wars in Ukraine and Iran further complicate the situation, and a political crisis could cause panic in financial markets, severely affecting the economy.
Eugen Rădulescu warns that such a crisis could lead to a collapse in consumption and long-term economic stagnation, similar to that of Greece. He emphasizes the need for politicians to be aware of the risks and to avoid internal conflicts to ensure the economic stability of the country: “I hope that the sense of danger is present to a sufficient extent, as long as it does not endanger the political stability of the country, as long as it is today.”
