The Chamber of Deputies approved, as a decision-making body, the extension of the reduced VAT rate of 9% for the purchase of homes until October 1, 2026. The project was voted with 287 votes 'for', one vote against, and two abstentions, and will be sent to President Nicușor Dan for promulgation.

The law allows the purchase of homes with reduced VAT, provided that they have a usable area of a maximum of 120 square meters and a total value of up to 600,000 lei. Additionally, the homes must be habitable at the time of delivery, and the beneficiaries must not have purchased another home with a reduced VAT rate since 2023. The proposal was supported by all political parties after PSD and AUR requested an extension of the deadline, and the discussions were influenced by administrative blockages caused by a cyber attack on ANCPI.
