Former interim Minister of Agriculture and former Deputy Prime Minister Tánczos Barna claims that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development lost more than 400 million lei from national funds in the budget rectification and that farmers did not receive funding for the state aid schemes approved by Parliament in 2026.
In a post published on Facebook on Friday, Tánczos Barna stated that MADR benefited from a positive rectification for projects financed with European funds, but did not receive money for the urgent support needed by farmers. He warns that the lack of funds could cause “a disaster for farmers” and hopes that the Government will approve a new budget rectification.
The former minister claims that farmers are facing record prices for diesel and fertilizers and states that other member states have used the opportunities offered by the Temporary State Aid Framework for the crisis in the Middle East. Tánczos Barna calls on Romania to adopt similar measures and expresses his confidence that the new Minister of Agriculture will continue efforts to secure funding.
According to the data regarding the rectification, the MADR budget was reduced by approximately 490 million lei, while the ministry received an additional 1.47 billion lei for projects financed from non-reimbursable external funds. Overall, allocations exceeding 3 billion lei were reduced.
