Tanczos Barna says austerity must start from within the state, noting that cuts in privileges will generate discontent but are necessary to regain citizens' trust. The 9.3% deficit was caused by increases in pensions, wages and investment. He stressed the importance of addressing these problems and removing privileges, saying that trade unions and the government must reach a compromise through dialogue. The first package has been adopted and the second is in preparation.
