PNL Deputy Robert Sighiartău criticized on Wednesday, in a Facebook post, Nicușor Dan's decision to nominate Adrian Veștea, stating that this was done without respecting democratic principles and without dialogue with the party.
Sighiartău emphasized that this action reflects a concerning character trait, where pride prevails over principles.
The deputy called for Dan to acknowledge his mistakes, believing that this would demonstrate maturity and responsibility.
"The best thing the president could do today, even though it is difficult, would be to acknowledge that he was wrong. It would not be a sign of weakness, but one of maturity and responsibility. It could be the beginning of regaining the trust of a part of the electorate and proof that he respects the principles he invoked during the campaign," he wrote on Facebook.
He also suggested that the president should clarify the political direction of the country, either by granting a mandate to a PSD majority or by supporting a minority PNL-USR-UDMR formula.
Sighiartău emphasized that the loss of credibility by the president affects not only his political future but also the stability of institutions and the trust of citizens in the Romanian state.
