The Ministry of Education is in a delicate situation, without a full minister following the resignation of Daniel David, which took place on December 22, 2025. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan took over the interim on January 14, but despite promising a nomination by the end of January, this has not happened. By the end of February 2026, Bolojan's interim will expire, leaving education without official leadership. Among the possible successors are Mihai Dimian, the rector of "Ștefan cel Mare" University in Suceava, but also other names such as Marilen Pirtea and Luciana Antoci. Bolojan announced that he would make a nomination after returning from Brussels, but he has not confirmed whether Dimian is the favorite.
