The President of the USA, Donald Trump, will host today, in Washington, the first meeting of his newly created Peace Council. Nicușor Dan, one of the few EU leaders present, represents Romania with the status of "observer".

The President of the USA, Donald Trump, will host on Thursday, in Washington, the first meeting of his newly created Peace Council, during which he will announce that member states have committed to allocate over 5 billion dollars for reconstruction and humanitarian efforts in Gaza, the White House announced on Wednesday. Romania will have the role of observer at the major meeting at the White House.

Among the states present as observers are the Czech Republic (Foreign Minister Petr Macinka), Cyprus (Foreign Minister Constantino Combos), Croatia (Secretary of State for Trade and Development), Finland (ambassador), Greece (Deputy Foreign Minister), Italy (Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani), Poland (Head of the International Policy Office within the Presidential Administration Marcin Przydacz), Slovakia, the Netherlands (ambassador), Sweden (ambassador), Norway (special representative for the Middle East).

Of the at least 60 invited countries, 27 have accepted so far the invitation to be part of the Council.

Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania, and Kosovo are the only European countries that have joined the Council as members.
